Rosell Meseguer (Orihuela, 1976)
Born in 1976 in Orihuela (Alicante), her relationship with the coast and the limits of space, just like with her visits being a child to the shipyards of Cartagena (Spain) and to the mines of La Unión, marked her themes about history, war, coast, and mining and its relations with landscape and society.
Visual artist and Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado en Bellas Artes by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Since 2005 she has been developing her professional activity between Europe and Latin America through collaborations with museums, art galleries and workshops in different universities in both continents.
She has been granted a scholarship by the Academia de España in Rome, Beca Botín or the Fundació Miró Mallorca. She has been commissioned by institutions such as Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes, España; AC/E, Acción Cultural España; Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID); Manifesta, International Foundation Manifesta (IFM), Holanda (2010-2011); Plat(t)Form, Winthertur, Zurich; Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio, Chile; or the ArtCenter/South Florida, Miami.
She develops her artistic practise and research in different media: archive, photography, painting, installation, publications, drawings, and video. She analyses the relation between science, technology, and art, just like the creation of methodologies of documentation carried out since 2001 in MOMA, New York; Tate Britain, London, or the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, among others.
In the las few years, she has carried out projects in Fundació Miró Mallorca, MAVI. Museo de Artes Visuales en Santiago, Chile or the George Washington University - Embassy of Spain.
Her work is present in collections such as CA2M. Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo Madrid; Fundación BBVA; Fundación AENA; Real Academia de Spain in Rome; UNICAJA or IVAM, Valencia, just like private collections in the USA (Whitney Museum’s Board Member, NY), Latin America (MAC Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Santiago de Chile) and Spain (Seguros DKV).
