Front for Emancipation and Collective Delirium, Gabriel Ventura

In his first solo exhibition at a gallery, Gabriel Ventura (Granollers, 1988) presents a show that traces a brief journey through the archive of the FEDC (Front for Emancipation and Collective Delirium), a fictional activist group. Through a series of works in different formats, the exhibition explores the tactics, theories, and political programme of a contemporary collective that fights both for information sovereignty and for the psychic freedom of citizens. Inspired by groups such as the Red Brigades, Action Directe, and the Red Army Faction, members of the FEDC advocate guerrilla warfare as a means of confronting capitalist powers. Their actions consist of boycotting the technological and logistical infrastructures of major multinational corporations.

The FEDC combines utopian political thought with highly specific cosmic conceptions, rooted in the historical connection between mysticism and anarchism. We are confronted with a group committed to a political, psychic, and sensory revolution. From the FEDC’s perspective, one of the major problems with all revolutions is their extremely rational character. The FEDC advocates a more sensorially complex, unpredictable, and mysterious world, in which synchronicities and the cult of chance are also political elements.

In one of the corners of the room, there is a monster.

Everyone sees it, but no one says anything.

The monster stares at us with eyes from another world, distant, expressionless.

It reads our thoughts.

Be your own Artificial Intelligence.

Deceive those who deceive you.

Steal hope from the sellers of hope.

Give yourself over to a different dream every day.

You have nothing to lose because you have already lost everything.
