Aparece, aparecer by Valentina Alvarado Matos and Carlos Vásquez Méndez proposes a visual and textual approach to the collaborative working methodology between the two artists—focused on ‘exercises’ of translating words into images and vice versa—while raising questions central to the artistic works they develop together: the relationship between image and word, performativity, the haptic nature of the filmic act, and the work with the materiality of analog cinema, among others.
