RUDERALIS. Herbae Malae, Â 29.10 - 10.11.2025

Artist and jeweller born in Alicante and based in Barcelona. He graduated in Fine Arts from the Miguel Hernández University of Alicante, completed the Master’s degree in Artistic Research and Creation at the Complutense University of Madrid, and later trained in Artistic Jewellery at Escola Massana in Barcelona, where he found a point of convergence between artistic thought and artisanal craft.
His practice is structured around the creation of what he understands as narrative objects: pieces that, through jewellery-making techniques and resources, explore the capacity of matter to acquire symbolic value, communicate ideas, generate rituals, contain theatricality, or illustrate stories. He conceives jewellery as an expanded field, capable of going beyond mere ornamentation to become a medium for thought and cultural speculation.
He works with precious materials such as gold, silver, and other metals in order to explore their persistence, resistance, and ability to reflect light; qualities that we culturally associate with the sacred. With the domestication of fire, we also learned to transform metal, creating jewellery and weapons — beauty and death. This reflection recurs throughout his work, both in the relationship between the history of the craft and our civilisation, and in the use of primitive symbols, idealised vegetal motifs, and ornamental resources derived from the material process itself. His work explores the traditional boundaries of the discipline: what defines it, what its possible supports are, and how it may detach itself from the body while still being recognised as jewellery without renouncing its symbolic charge.
Alongside this, Ximo has been a member of La Quarta Pell since 2021, a collective of art, design, and architecture in which, together with 12 other members, he develops projects situated between research, production, and exhibition-making.
